The SImply Books Summer Picnic
Date: Wednesday 28th August
Venue: Saltaire, near Bradford
We are very excited about our plan for this year’s Bookshop Picnic!
We have chosen Saltaire (near Bradford) – conceived as a ‘model village’ to house the workers at Salts Mill it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As well as Salts Mill itself (home to one of the largest David Hockney collections in the world) there’s a lovely park (with lots of picnic possibilities), a Heritage Trail, boat trips on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, and plenty of unusual shops/cafes. There’s even a bookshop too!
If you want to find out more take a peek at the website:www.saltairevillage.info
Our coach will leave from the shop at 9.30AM and return between 6 and 6.30PM
We have arranged to be met by a guide (in costume!) who will introduce us to Saltaire and its history – and there’ll then be plenty of time to wander at leisure and visit the village and the Mill. As in previous years you’re welcome to bring your own picnic (but there are plenty of cafés too).
Tickets: £30 per person (this includes the coach, fees for our guide, a hot drink on arrival and cream tea in Salts Mill before we depart).
