Date: Tuesday 10th December
Venue: Ford’s Lane Church, Ford’s Lane, Bramhall, SK7 1DQ
Calling all music fans! Join much loved broadcaster and presenter Mark Radcliffe as he talks about is new book CROSSROADS.
Standing at the Mississippi crossroads made famous by Robert Johnson’s seminal Blues track Mark found himself facing his own personal crunch point. Aged sixty, he had just mourned the death of his father, only to be handed a diagnosis of mouth and throat cancer. This momentous time in his life, and being at the most famous junction in music history , led Mark to think about the music’s pivotal tracks and how the musicians who wrote and performed them had reached the ‘crossroads’ which led them create such epoch-changing music.
In his warm, intimate account of music and its power to transform our lives, Mark explores some touchstone tracks and reflects on his own experiences going in search of the stories behind them.
Down to earth, and thoroughly amiable, Mark Radcliffe has been a distinctive voice on our airwaves for many years presenting programmes on BBC Radio One, Two and Six Music, plus TV programmes including BBC’s Glastonbury coverage.
Join us for a great night of conversation and exceptional music!
