All three of the Simply Books’ owners have a background in education. Karen was a primary school teacher for 12 years. Ben trained to teach, and was a sports coach in various schools. Jess is a 1:1 teaching assistant, primarily for children with additional needs.
So, for us, schools are an integral part of what we want to do with Simply Books. We want to work with has many schools as possible, and be a key part of your English and Reading provision.
We can do everything from supplying books at a discount, to running book clubs. We can bring authors into school, and help you fit out your library.

Are a brilliant way of topping up a class or school library. We’ll send you a selection of new and exciting books – all ‘gift wrapped’ in bright paper and bows. Opening the parcels with the children becomes an event in itself and creates a buzz about the books!
We can put together an eclectic and creative collection of books to match teachers’ topics… we’re organised and have lots of imagination!
We can supply gift vouchers to any value. Great as school prizes, incentives or rewards. Simply Books vouchers come with a treat in our cafe which makes a visit to the shop to spend the voucher an occasion in itself! We can also supply National Book Tokens.
What better way for a whole staff group to share our excitement about books than for us to host a meeting in the shop. Enjoy afternoon tea and then we’ll help you select books.
Some of our very best moments in the shop are with children who come on our ‘bookshop tour’. We can tailor a ‘tour’ to a focus of your choosing but it’s likely to involve an introduction to the shop, Q & A about what we do here and selecting books off the shelves. Topped off with hot chocolate and homemade brownies round the big table upstairs!
One of the most exciting (and memorable) experiences in school for children is to meet an author/illustrator. For schools with whom we work the author visits that we arrange are the ‘icing on the cake’.
An event when we invite schools to bring groups of children to meet a top author – with an emphasis on learning, enjoyment and entertainment.
